At Laser Spine Institute, our Medical Assistants are responsible for a variety of direct patient care tasks in our world-class clinic; taking and recording vital signs, lab draws, post-surgical wound care, EKGs and initial patient work-ups. Our Medical Assistants will work closely with our Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to deliver outstanding service to our patients while maintaining the highest level of medical knowledge and professionalism. The Medical Assistant that we're looking for demonstrates impeccable knowledge of clinical processes as they pertain to standing orders, medication review, charting, and patient identification and scheduling.

Essential Functions - Duties & Responsibilities

Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
Ability to problem solve and facilitate the patients through the clinical process in an effective and efficient manner.

Must be highly proficient in core Medical Assistant skills:
Blood draw/finger stick-CBC, CMP, PT/INR, Sed Rate, CRP, etc.
EKG
Vitals
Urinalysis
Pulse Ox
Chart Building
Patient Research
MRSA nasal swab for culture
Demonstrates knowledge and skills of the clinical processes as they pertain to standing orders, medication review, charting, patient identification and patient scheduling.
Comfortable with pre- and post-op patient management and able to review cases clearly and concisely.
Ability to handle patient problems and scheduling conflicts and appropriately seeks management's input when necessary.
Ability to problem solve and facilitate the patients through the clinical process in an effective and efficient manner.
Audits patient charts for accuracy and discrepancy analysis.
Document clinical supply ordering on a weekly basis and is fluent in supply ordering and cost analysis.
Assists in resolving/trouble-shooting complex patient/clinical issues.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of all HIPAA regulations.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills.
Must possess proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite.
Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively with physicians, surgeons, physician extenders and other senior clinical practitioners.
Must have excellent time-management skills.
Must have outstanding professional medical phone communication skills and can coordinate with outside facilities to obtain patient medical information, following HIPAA regulations.

Required Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Must be a graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant program or prior training, education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired leading to a Medical Assistant title

License/Certifications:
Must have current CPR certification, or obtain prior to hire

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience:
Competent us ing EMR and Diagnostic Imaging Systems with the ability to manage and manipulate each system independently as necessary.

License/Certifications:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
