The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center invites nominations and applications for the position of Assistant Dea! n for Graduate Professional Programs in the College of Nursing.Nursing education at the University of Oklahoma originated in 1911 and the College of Nursing is built upon a rich tradition of innovative curricula and cutting edge research. The college produces the largest number of nursing graduates in the state and, as a national leader in distance education, offers traditional and non-traditional programs at the bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral levels and a variety of post-masters certificates. The College of Nursing has received national recognition including the first funding of a Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence by the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation, designation as one of three 2006-2009 Centers of Excellence by the National League for Nursing and continues this designation, and selection as one of only 14 Veterans Affairs’ Nursing Academy education partnerships.The Assistant Dean for Graduate Professional Programs will work with the academic administrative ! team on strategic planning for graduate professional programs.!
The Assistant Dean will guide the graduate faculty teaching in the Master’s degree and Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs and program directors to implement the College’s strategic priorities and serve as leader for curriculum development, evaluation, revision, admissions and progressions. The Assistant Dean for Graduate Professional Programs provides oversight regarding academic program policies and procedures and guides and supports Master’s degree and DNP program directors and work with them to develop teaching assignments. The Assistant Dean will monitor program budgets, recommend areas for faculty development, and facilitate generation of resources for the academic programs, faculty and students The Assistant Dean for Graduate Professional Programs will serve as liaison between graduate professional program directors and Associate Dean for Academic Programs and collaborate with Program Directors, Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and staff wi! th regard to recruitment, admission, and retention of students to the programs.
