Description: Oklahoma State Department of Health is at present looking to employ MDS-OASIS Registered Nurse Consultant right now, this vacancy will be placed in Oklahoma. This position will consult with and train providers and OSDH surveyors on clinical aspects of assessment instruments that evaluate the physical, psychosocial and functional condition of residents in nursing facilities and clients of home health agencies. The person in this position will also be involved in training on CMS initiatives and promoting the highest practicable level of resident health and safety.

Duties include, but are not limited to:The fu! nctions of this position include the following:
· E! ducates providers in the methodology of the Minimum Data Set (MDS) used to assess nursing facility residents and the Outcome and Assessment Information Set (OASIS) used to assess home health agency clients; this includes content, preparation, organization and delivery of such information.
· Participates in evaluation of services provided by the Division through the quality assurance program.
· Serves as a consultant to health care administrators and professional health care staff in developing and improving quality of care for patients according to state and federal regulations and professional standards of practice.
· Participates in quality assurance and quality improvement studies or projects designed to improve patient care outcomes and quality of services.
· Confers with federal, state and community agencies and professional organizations concerned with health care.
· Collaborates with other professionals in the management of health c! are and quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.

Education and Work Experience:
Requirements consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a registered nurse as approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, a bachelor's degree and two years of professional nursing experience. Each additional year of professional nursing experience may substitute for one year of educational requirements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of the MDS & OASIS Manuals; knowledge of the regulatory and statutory requirements; adult education and presentation skills; clinical skills; ability to multi-task in a call center environment managing provider/surveyor calls while developing/creating educational presentations; flexibility due to rapid and often complex changes in the MDS/OASIS programs administered.
