Job Title: CERTIFIED MEDICATION AIDE Job Code: 25402 Shift: 8 Hour Night Shift Employment Status: Full-Time Average Hours per Week: 40 Category: Nursing JO! B DESCRIPTION: Responsible for distribution of medication per physician orders to residents and participants. Performs delegated activities; including activities of daily living and basic nursing care procedures for those we serve. Performs duties and presents oneself in a manner that would lead to high levels of satisfaction. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions: Deliver nursing care which includes administering medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician consistent with ministry policies and procedures. Order medications from pharmacy per ministry policy Provides support with Activities of Daily Living as assigned in a safe manner, consistent with the policies and procedures of the ministry. Documents tasks completed per ministry policy. Contributes to resident safety by identifying safety hazards and emergency situations and initiates corrective action as appropriate.
Contribute! s to continuity of care by effectively communicating services ! provided and changes in the resident's condition or family interactions in a timely manner. Complies with ministrys infection control policies and procedures. May perform other duties as assigned or requested. Management Responsibilities: This position has no management responsibilities.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education and/or Experience High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred A minimum of one year experience as a Certified Medication Aide is preferred Behavioral Skills Possess a personal presence characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the philosophy, mission, vision, goals and values of Via Christi Health. Creates and maintains a partnership between employees, the community, and those we serve that fosters an environment honoring individual preferences, choices and traditions. Exhibits well developed communication skills, and is able to professionally receive and follow oral ins! tructions in English. Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position, function independently, having flexibility, consistency and professionalism.
Develops and sustains safe, positive and productive work habits. Demonstrates compliance with all Via Christi policies and procedures. Technical Skills Maintains knowledge of medication administration, duration and side effects. Demonstrates procedural competencies for assigned tasks.
Working knowledge of basic computer systems in order to complete data entry required. Ability to navigate the internet and Via Christi intranet required Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified for medication administration in the state in which employed. Must complete updates as mandated by state regulations. CPR certification preferred.
