Description:
The Oklahoma State Department of Health is recruiting for a position to travel to 2 sites in Wagoner, one site each in Cherokee and Mayes County. This position will provide advanced health care to women, men and children and will also address special underserved populations (Native Americans, Hispanic residents, low-income residents and rural populations). This includes the assessment of individual health, analyzing data to determine medical and nursing needs, planning a treatment strategy to meet identified needs and evaluating responses to nursing and medical interventions. Position will provide and support functions necessary to achieve targeted health outcomes through the Oklahoma Health Improvement Plan (OHIP) Flagship Issues (ChildrenÂ's health, Tobacco Cessation, Obesity Reduction, Cardiovascular Health). Additionally, duties will include emergency preparedness and response efforts during disease outbreaks or pandemic events.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Performing compre! hensive physical examinations; securing health histories; performing or ordering laboratory tests; conducting other appropriate procedures to assess the health status of patients or clients; planning a strategy to meet identified health care needs; reviewing and analyzing laboratory tests and other diagnostic data; prescribing types of birth control and medications for treatment; counseling patient on health problems, prescribing treatments and the use of drugs; provided continuity of an individualized health care program for clients; and referring or collaborating with physicians and other members of the health care team when needed.
Education and Work Experience:
Requirements at this level consist of possession of a valid permanent Oklahoma license as a Registered Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, certification by as an Advanced Practice Nurse by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing, eligibility for prescriptive authority*, and three years experience as! a Registered Nurse.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Requirements consist of knowledge of the human anatomy, physiology and chemistry; of medical diagnosis techniques, methods, and procedures; methods of organization, management, and public administration. Knowledge of agency policies and procedures; grant or contract program requirements; and, federal and state laws and regulations relating to administration of programs is preferred. Ability is required to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, and collaborate as an effective team member; communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; exercise sound independent judgment; analyze and resolve highly complex situations; conduct physical examinations and health assessments; and, provide advanced specialized nursing car! e and/or medical care to include writing prescriptions or be eligible t! o apply for prescriptive privileges.
Other:
Position requires possible response to public health emergencies including, but not limited to, natural disasters, disease outbreaks, or catastrophic events. The Oklahoma State Department of Health is tobacco free.
