Educational Technology: The Department of Education at East Central University (ECU) is pleased to invite applications for the position of ! Assistant Professor of Educational Technology, tenure track if eligible, beginning August, 2013. ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma. ECU offers thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 40 countries and 35 different states. Approximately 65% of the 172 faculty members hold doctorates. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for 1): delivering quality inst! ruction in undergraduate and graduate professional education 2! ) providing leadership for the Master’s of Secondary Education, Educational Technology option 2) supervising student teachers 3) pursuing a focused area of research and scholarship that culminates in publications, professional presentations, and submission of grant proposals 4) holding active membership in relevant professional associations/organizations, and 5) serving on committees and participate in official activities at the department, college and university levels.

Qualifications: Candidates should have an earned doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Educational Technology (candidates who are ABD and those who are close to ABD status may be considered). Other preferred requirements include: three years of successful public school teaching, experience in Educational Technology, and a commitment to preparing teachers for effective practice in public schools.

Skills Required

demonstrated commitment to teaching, service, and profes! sional development;

ability to work collaboratively with colleagues;

excellent verbal and written communication skills;

experience teaching using a variety of instructional technology (internet, instructional software, Blackboard);

ability to teach in traditional and non-traditional formats and settings (off-campus, weekends, on-line, and/or ITV);

ability to engage in student recruitment and program advising;

ability to advise students in graduate-level research projects; and

ability to collect, analyze, and report program data semi-annually to support continuous improvement decision-making and accreditation.

Skills Desired

grant writing ability or other experience related to seeking external funding;

experience with both Windows and Apple system software and related application software;

experience supervising computer labs or media centers;

experience with Chalk and! Wire ePortfolio and Assessment System.
