Job Function

1. Patient Exam. ! Greets patient respectfully and courteously while rooming and preparing patient for exam. Takes and records vital signs including heart and respiratory rate, blood pressure, weight, body temperature, in EMR. May assist provider during exam as requested.
2. Information Gathering. Notes all current patient medications in EMR. Assures any expected test results are in EMR for provider to review with patient. Assures patient information has been updated and patient is ready for physician.
3. Sample collection and managing patient expectation. Discusses with patient any expectations they may have for their visit with their provider. Alerts patient to provider delays that may affect the patient. May collect samples for testing by provider's order. Prepares samples for analysis.
4. Patient communication. May make patient referral appointments. answer routine questions from patients or family, and will return phone messages during each clinic session. Documents all patie! nt encounters appropriately in EMR.
5. Provider intereacti! on and patient expectation. Will assist 2 to 4 providers on a daily basis including both faculty and resident physicians as well as physician assistants while working with the health care team at the Family Medicine Center to provide excellent health care to our patients.

6. Medication Administration. Under direction of physician or other medical personnel, administers medication to patients.
7. As Needed. Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Department Preferences

Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Keyboarding experience essential. Previous experience with EMR useful.
