PHYSICAL EDUCATION PEDAGOGY: the Kinesiology Department of East Central University (ECU) invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, if eligible, faculty position beginning August, 2012. ECU is a student-centered regional state university located in Ada, Oklahoma offering thirty-three undergraduate baccalaureate degree programs in arts and letters, business, education, mathematics and sciences, nursing, and the social sciences. Nine master's degrees are offered in education, human resources, psychology, and accounting. ECU's 4,800 students come from 38 countries and 32 different states. About 65% of the 173 faculty members hold doctorates.
Responsibilities may include: 1) teaching undergraduate courses in physical education curriculum and pedagogy as determined by program needs; 2) serving as an academic advisor and mentor to physical education majors; 3) engaging in research and scholarship that culminates in publications, professional presentations, and submissions of grant proposals; 4) holding active membership in relevant professional associations/organizations; and 5) serving on committees and participating in official activities at the department, college and university levels.
Qualifications: Earned Doctorate (or ABD status) preferred. Earned Master Degree required. Past public school teaching experience required; Professional and/or teaching experiences in sport skill instruction, instructional methods, supervision and evaluation of student teachers, academic advising, and curriculum assessment are highly desired.
